Hint of Spring

Friday, February 24, 2017

After what felt long a crazy week, we are getting ready to cozy up for a family movie night.  Chips and wine (wine for me, not the kids lol) are most definitely included! ha!

This jacket was a sale purchase (of course lol) and is no longer available, but you can find similar ones here (love the embellishments on this one!) and here (absolutely adore the sleeves on this one!).

I'd been wanting a green military jacket for a while, since I wear my tanned one so much.  They are definitely versatile, which of course, is a huge must for me!  The top is also older, but there's a similar one here!

Have a fabulous weekend, friends!

Cheers,

The Grey Cape

Tuesday, February 21, 2017

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful long weekend!  The weather here was absolutely amazing and the arrival of this grey melton wool cape from Banana Republic (wait till you see the price) couldn't have been better timed!  I fell in love with capes just before winter, they are so great for those warmer days that still require a jacket, but nothing too heavy.

I can't deny that I'm pretty excited for spring now that we got a taste of warmer temps, but that being said, we'd also like to get a few more trips to the ski hill in, so I you won't hear me complaining when the temps return to average later in the week!

Cheers,

Pink Forever

Wednesday, February 15, 2017

I am so smitten with blue and pink lately, in our house and in fashion too!

A few weeks ago I spotted this peacoat in Banana Republic's sale section.  I hummed and hawed and then of course, BR offered their 50% off and I decided to go for it!  Though the jacket isn't as thick as I thought it would, it's made of melton wool aka it's super soft and it's warm.  It will be perfect for running errands (remember, I'm that girl who very much dislikes overheating when running errands!), no heavy winter jackets for me (unless it's minus a zillion out of course!).

This week is feeling rather long, I'm exhausted!  Perhaps it's from all of the shovelling we did over the weekend?! haha!

Hope you're having a fantastic week so far!

Cheers,

Feeling The Love! Happy Valentine's Day!

Tuesday, February 14, 2017

A quick post to wish you all a very happy Valentine's Day!  I hope that you indulge in all things sweet today!  That's exactly what we intend on doing....lots of chocolate and of course, a heart shaped cake!  This is something that my mum used to make when we were kids, and because we all loved it so much, it's a tradition that we've carried on!

Enjoy your day!

The Blue Dress

Monday, February 13, 2017

A few weeks ago, we found out that we have an fun event to attend in the spring.  So of course, I immediately hopped online in search of the perfect dress!  J Crew was offering 40% off sale items, so I decided to purchase the Clara dress.  After debating which colour, I chose newport navy and oh.my.word, it's the most stunning blue ever!

The dress has since sold out, but there are most certainly some other amazing options!  I've also got my eye on this one (hopefully it's re-stocked) as well as this one.  So gorgeous!  I love to nab great dresses at even better prices!

Newness - New Workouts & New Beauty Routine

Monday, February 6, 2017

About a week and a half ago I decided enough was enough.  I threw on my workout clothes and headed to the basement to do a circuit.  It was time to start working out regularly again.  I love Crossfit, but I don't love working out in the garage when it's so darn cold out, so using the treadmill,  kettle bell and hand weights is a great alternative for me. (I'm a huge fan of Emily Skye's.  If you love circuits, follow her on Facebook for awesome videos.  I refer to them all of the time).

I switch things up every day, but typically do a circuit that consists of a 3 min run, then I do a few exercises with the kettle bell and then arms.  I repeat this 3/4 times.  After that , I do a core workout and lately I've been finishing this off with hill sprints on the treadmill.  I wish I had given this a try sooner, because I LOVE them!  I do 30 secs of running with a 30 secs - 1 min break, four times.  It's killer, but in a great way!

I've also made some rather big changes to my diet.  I always thought that I was a pretty good eater, but when I looked a littler closer I quickly realized that that wasn't the case.  Being more aware of what I'm eating has also made a big difference in how I feel.  Small changes with huge impact!  I'll chat more about this in a future post.

After having the opportunity to try Philosophy's anti-aging ultimate Miracle Worker night cream, I've been completely sold on the fact that I need this entire line in my life and just bought a new jar!  It is a beautiful line and I'm so incredibly happy with it.  I also added Purity face cleanser as well as anti-aging Miracle Worker Moisturizer to my daily routine.

I will be the first to admit that I've always been a skeptic about how well these products work, but for me, it's been a great experience and I'm truly happy with how much healthier my skin looks and feels.  It did take a few weeks for me to start noticing the difference, which is probably why I was always a skeptic.  I typically only ever used samples.  Samples are great for allowing you to see how the product feels and to ensure that it moisturizes your skin enough, but otherwise, you sometimes need to use the product for a longer period of time to notice the benefits.  At least that was the case for me. You can view the Miracle Worker line here.

I also wanted to invest in some great beauty product, so I decided to head to Shoppers Drug Mart to visit their Beauty Boutique.  I knew what type of look I was going for, but had no idea what products I needed to use to achieve it.  There are SO many to choose from and to know which brand and which shade you need has always felt very overwhelming! Thankfully the associate was so helpful and patient.  I left with these products and very much look forward to using them!  I will continue to use a mix of high & low products, but for me, these products seemed to fit the bill and work well with my skin tone and gave me the overall look I was aiming for.

I can't lie, I have a list of other products that I'm wanting to try, but I'll stick to these plus a few of my old regulars for now!

Do you have any favourite beauty products?  What about make up brushes?  I need to buy some that are of better quality.

Cheers,

A Night Out

Friday, February 3, 2017

I consider myself to be somewhat of a homebody....only because I love nothing more cozy evenings at home - so I find it hard at times to motivate myself to go out.  BUT!  Tell me that we are going someplace that I have to wear a dress and heels and I'm there!  Without a doubt!

There's not denying that Valentine's Day gives us a little bit of a nudge to make the effort to go out with your loved one.  I know, we should always make time for this, but I do love Valentine's Day, just like your birthday, when it's an extra special day to celebrate.

I spotted these heels while perusing the shelves at Call It Spring and could not resist purchasing them!  To think that this lover of the colour pink didn't have any pink heels in her closet until these lovelies came along is craziness!  I feel like a lace dress is a great staple for any closet.  Also, my favourite scent of the moment is Indigo by Nest.  Gosh I love it so!

Have a lovely weekend!

Cheers,
