Holiday Party Style

Wednesday, December 21, 2016

Well, I can hardly believe that I'm here today sharing my last blog post before the holidays!  How has your holiday prep been going?  I've finished 3/4 of my grocery shopping and have a few more gifts to wrap.

We will be attending a couple holiday parties over the weekend and after a little searching, I've found the perfect pieces to wear!

I can't even begin to tell you how stunning this lace top is!  It's even more beautiful in person.  The scalloped edge, peplum seam and of course, the intricate lace...all so good!  Pair it with dress pants or a skirt for a dressier look, dark denim (like I did here) for a more casual yet still dressy look or you could even pair it with you favourite distressed denim!  Because I'm wearing jeans, the sequin clutch adds a touch of glam and well, you can't ever go wrong with a camel coloured wool coat and nude pumps!

Wishing you all the most wonderful holiday!  Thank you so very much for all of your support, it truly means the world to me!  I look forward to bringing even more content to Elliven Studio in the New Year! Can't wait!

Happy holidays!!

Side Server - Holder of Crayons AND The Perfect Server!

Thursday, December 15, 2016

Hi, friends!

I hope the week has been treating you well so far!

As you know, I took part in the wonderful Hello Yellow Lookbook, but did you know that there are also a slew of extra posts to go along with it on the Hello Yellow Blog?!  If you haven't had a chance, be sure to take a visit!

Our basement makeover was a while back, but we really wanted to show you how important it is to choose pieces that will enable you to make the most of your space!  And to think outside of the box!

We chose to incorporate a side server in our basement makeover.  Though it's meant for a dining room (or kitchen), it truly is a great piece to have in our basement for several reasons!  I'm chatting all about it on the Hello Yellow blog!  You can find the post here!

Keeping Warm With Sunbeam's Heated Throw & A Giveaway! **Giveaway Now Closed**

Tuesday, December 13, 2016

Thank you to everyone who entered the giveaway!  Ernest was the lucky winner!  Congrats, Ernest!

I continue to cherish my quiet moments as we head into the colder months of the year, perhaps even more so - because let’s be honest, there isn’t anything better than a delicious cup of tea or hot chocolate when the snow is falling!  It’s such a great way to re-group and my room of choice is usually the living room.  I thoroughly enjoy sitting by the tree in the living room during the holidays, but truth be told, I can’t help but to be drawn to the family room because that’s where the fireplace is.  Enter the solution to my problem, this beautiful heated throw by Sunbeam.  You guys, it’s truly fantastic!  I absolutely love how it wraps you up in warmth, like a big hug!

I have such vivid memories of cozying up with a heated blanket when I was a kid.  I had one with the satin trim and it was the best!  I couldn’t get over the instant warmth that surrounded me after coming in from playing outside in the snow or after walking home from school.   Well, there’s no denying that Sunbeam’s throws and blankets have come a long way since then!  This new line of heated throws certainly aren’t your throws from back when you were young!  New technology together with a history of 50 years in this business, equals a new line of heated throws that are just as decorative as they are functional.

Practicality shines through with the ability to throw these heated throws into the washer and dryer when needed.  The lightweight controller allows you to choose from three heat settings, ensuring that you’ll find the perfect temperature to suit your needs!  The automatic 3 hour shut off feature is an additional bonus.

After a quick look at the colour selection and throw types (there’s also a gorgeous reversible sherpa heated throw among other fun patterns and styles!), I chose to go with this stunning faux-fur throw in a luxe brown for our living room.  It pairs beautifully with the velvet pillows and looks fantastic draped over the back of the couch or over the arm.  It’s easily accessible to anyone who is wanting to curl up to read a book or magazine, or take a quick snooze in this room, but it’s also a decorative element!  I’m pretty sure that this blanket may go missing every once in awhile, being used in other rooms of the house, it’s just that cozy!

These cozy throws are available at a variety of big box stores, such as Walmart, Canadian Tire, Sears and Costco, but of course, we want to give one away to a lucky reader!  I’m SO excited to share that Sunbeam has offered to give one lucky reader the same faux-fur throw as the one pictured in this post!  To enter, follow the steps below!  Contest is open to Canadian residents and closes Dec 19th at 11:59pm EST.  Winner will be chosen at random.  Good luck!

New Sarah Richardson Pillow Covers & A Favourite Top

Monday, December 12, 2016

We are starting our week off with a snow day!  I'm pretty excited to have an extra day to regroup from the weekend and the best part is that the snow is packing snow, so we should be able to build our first snowman!

If there was ever a top that was me to a "t" it's the Edie Top fro J. Crew.  I purchased the plaid version first (which has since sold out).  Once it arrived, I hopped on the computer to see what other fabrics there were!  I bought two more (textured clip dot & shirting stripe) when they were offering 40% and free shipping (can't lie, I love a good deal!).  Well, the good news is that they are once again offering 40% off AND free shipping!  You can find them here!

I still can't get over the transformation of our family room (read about in page 36 right here!).  Previously, this room was honestly been a bit of a thorn in my side.  I had tried several different fabrics for pillows, different furniture arrangements and so on, but it wasn't until our family room makeover and then the recent addition of these stunning Sarah Richardson pillow covers that I now look at this room and smile.  I smile!  It's the absolute best feeling and I'm so thankful!

I purchased the pillow covers when Sarah Richardson was offering 50% off a few weekends ago.  If you've been following me here for a while, then you know that I typically shy away from colour, unless it's pink!  But I knew that the family room needed warmth, it needed colour and I LOVED this fabric, so I went for it.  Oh goodness, am I ever so glad that I did!

The jade pairs beautifully with the couch (and will pair even more beautifully with my dream couch, which I'm still saving up for lol) and I love how it ties in with the gallery wall in our hallway.  I'll have to take a wide shot for you to see!  I kept the blue pillow covers that used to be on the couch, just moved them over to the chairs with the purple pillows.  Tada!  More pics to come!

What I love about these pillow covers are their generous size (20"x20"), the fact that they are reversible (simply flip the pillows over for a fresh look AND they look great from the front or back!).  I also love the beautiful hidden zipper and piping detail!  The pillow cover is 100% cotton and machine washable, much needed when you have kiddos, no?!

Have a wonderful day!

A Family Room Makeover

Saturday, December 10, 2016

Happy Saturday!  We will be spending our Saturday snuggling up watching holiday movies and max relaxing because we have a super busy day tomorrow!   Have you had a chance to read about our family room makeover in the Hello Holiday Lookbook?  This room was once my least favourite room in the house, but has now stolen a piece of my heart!  You can read all about it on page 36 of the lookbook!

Have a lovely weekend!

Holiday Home Tour!

Friday, December 9, 2016

Hi, friends and welcome to anyone who is new here!  I appreciate you taking the time to pop over for our holiday home tour!  A quick recap for those of you who haven't seen our home decked out for the holidays before!  Our main tree is in the living room (the first room with the white couch).  We most certainly have a "family tree".  The kids decorate the tree and once they are done (aka tired), I finish hanging the leftover ornaments (and I have to admit that I may rearrange a few, because you know, I just can't help myself!).

Pink is my absolute favourite colour, so it always seems to find it's way into our holiday colour scheme one way or another!  I'm also a huge fan of vintage & antique pieces, so you'll see a mix of new and old throughout our home.

Now for the tour!  I've started with the living room and finished with the family room, with stops in the dining room, hallway and kitchen!  Enjoy!

Can you even believe that this tree is fake?!  Well, it's true!

There are so many incredible home tours and I've been completely inspired!  You can find the entire list below!
