This picture and it's name perfectly depict how I was feeling mentally yesterday (although I believe that the picture above is a "pretty" portrayal of chaos, wouldn't you agree). There were lots of things going on, and I didn't exactly feel well organized. It was the first day of school, and boy, did it ever show.
I thought I was well prepared.....I was up early, woke the kids up, got everyone ready (I'm solo right now), went to and from school a total of six times (we walk when it's nice enough, so that's walking to drop M off, pick him up a lunch, bringing him back after lunch and then going to and from to get him when school is all done for the day....poor little R was pretty pooped by the time we were returning home, and quite frankly, so was I). Even though we were on time for all of the drop offs/pick ups, I just couldn't get that feeling like I had a handle on things.
This was very different than kindergarten, I just wasn't use to it. Wasn't sure about what I should do while M was at school, how much time I would have to get things done, etc.....
I'm a grade 1 parent rookie
I admit it....and well, you could tell. I think had I just written all that we had to do down throughout the day, I would have had a better sense of how much time I really had.
I think it's safe to say that we all felt out of sorts though. Baby J is getting four molars and his cheeks are red, red, red.....R was walking around lost without his right hand man M. The only one who was feeling fab was M, who just loves school (hoping this last forever!) and loved the fact that he got to go out for recess!
Today, has been much better from the start, phew. I feel more organized, like I have a handle on things and that this will work out well, it will just take some getting used to, no problem.
I think we're good to go
This weekend is our community wide sale, I'm quite looking forward to it. Unfortunately, we won't be taking part by selling anything, but we will do a little walking around to see what we can find. The kids will love it.
I'd never seen anything like it the first year we were here, but now, I look forward to it each Sept. Hopefully the sun will be shining on all of us shoppers and sellers just like last year.

what are your plans for this weekend?
Cheers,

Julie: Well, I'm so glad my image could help you explain your first day of school! Ah the days when my daughter had major issues with school - yuck! My plans for the weekend are watching my daughter (she's 14) in a horse show ... busy and exciting!
ReplyDeleteI love the image! It's great and worked perfectly for this post, thanks a bunch. Good luck to your daughter tomorrow (er, today). Cheers!
